On June 21,1977, Madlung (D. Langston) was born in Vallejo California, a city by the bay. His father was a musician, and he was introduced to music at a young age. He has been rapping and singing since rap and R&B was still in it’s original form and represented the truth – And he still believes it can represent the real voice of the people.
Madlung started doing music as a release from all the troubles that were going on in his life. In his own words, “No need to cry about it, because I ‘m still here.” “I spit for the struggle and sing for the streets, my folks and my fam,” says Madlung. “I’m not no cookie cutter artist. Matter of fact I don’t do music, I live it.”
It was in 1993 when Madlung put out his first project. A two-song single called The 209 Method. Having received a solid response, in 1995 Madlung released his first E.P titled :
Coast 2 Coast.
More determined than ever, he started moving where ever the music would take him. Eventually he ended up in Sacramento CA. By late 1998 he found himself working with some of the biggest artists in northern California .
This is when Madlung started becoming known for his diversity in the Hip Hop music scene as a Singer, Songwriter, and Rap artist. David sums up his style by saying, “It has been my goal to bring an authentic mix of both my styles together to make my own mark in the music industry.”
After a couple of bad experiences with contract deals and learning the hard truths of the music industry, Madlung has discovered that his path was not simply as an artist alone but also as a business man.
After a journey full of experiences and struggles from dealing with everything from personal/artistic growth to business, Madlung has gone onto build and become C.E.O of his own independent record label YesYal Records.
With his own publishing and music production company, Madlung hopes to launch himself and other s on a more artist controlled platform based label. The Street 2 the Room ( 2001)
